Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is urging the Nigerian Army to adopt artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital tools for modern defence. NITDA Director-General Dr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi emphasized that speed in processing data into actionable intelligence is key to military success.
To protect national security, the military must build local technology and talent rather than relying heavily on foreign systems. AI will not replace soldiers, but it will handle routine tasks, speed up decisions, and make operations more effective.
Local Tech Innovations
Nigerian companies are already building domestic defence tools:
- AI Threat Detection: Local firm Terra Industries built ArtemisOS, an AI system that combines drone and camera data to spot threats in real time.
- Infrastructure Protection: Local automated systems are actively used to protect critical national sites.
- Public-Private Partnerships: Collaborations between private startups and government agencies, such as the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, help reduce dependence on foreign technology imports.

Organizations hosting industry summits can publish their listings in the events directory, while defence-tech firms seeking specialized talent can post open positions in the jobs portal.
