Digital Literacy Nigeria: NITDA Launches a Dashboard as Training Passes 2.7 Million

How do you know whether a national digital skills push is working? Count, compare and keep the data in one place. That’s the idea behind the National Digital Literacy Dashboard, which NITDA has launched. It comes as reported training achievements reach 2,769,512 over the last three years, a figure behind the headline that 2.7 million Nigerians trained.

What the dashboard covers

NITDA says the tool tracks progress, strengthens coordination and supports data-driven decisions. It covers 252 active reporting organizations across all 774 Local Government Areas and 14,664 communities. In short, it’s a shared scoreboard for a very large country.

Who is contributing

The top contributors to digital skills training in Nigeria, by reported training achievements, are:

  1. Cisco: 1,073,604
  2. NITDA: 960,424
  3. Meta Platforms Inc.: 333,816

Others on the list include Imo Digital City Limited, the Sokoto State Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, the Bureau for ICT and Digital Economy, digital development agencies in Jigawa, Kaduna and Zamfara, and the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD). For anyone curious about what skills employers want next, browsing tech jobs gives a quick sense.

Why a dashboard helps

NITDA says the dashboard will help find gaps, reduce duplication and improve how resources are allocated. When dozens of organizations run training independently, it’s easy for two groups to cover the same ground while another community gets nothing. A single view makes that harder to miss.

The targets ahead

Nigeria is working toward digital literacy targets of 70% by 2027 and 95% by 2030. The initiative also fits President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s priorities of diversification through industrialization, digitization, creative arts, manufacturing and innovation. Progress against those goals will be easier to follow with this tool, and it’s the kind of story that regularly shows up in IT industry news.
