The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has rolled out a nationwide initiative to train members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in data protection and privacy compliance, reinforcing Nigeria’s push toward a more secure digital ecosystem.
Under the programme, corps members will receive structured training on the fundamentals of data privacy, regulatory compliance, and responsible data handling. Participants are also expected to gain access to certification opportunities designed to improve their employability in sectors where data governance is becoming a core requirement.
According to NDPC officials, the initiative aligns with the Commission’s broader mandate to deepen awareness of Nigeria’s data protection framework and build local capacity in privacy management. By targeting young graduates during their service year, the regulator aims to create a pipeline of skilled professionals capable of supporting organisations in meeting compliance standards.
The training is part of a wider effort to strengthen digital trust in Nigeria’s expanding tech and business environment, where demand for privacy expertise continues to grow. NDPC emphasised that equipping youths with practical knowledge in data protection will not only enhance career prospects but also contribute to safer data practices across public and private institutions.
